Officials have previously said they have recovered human remains at the scene of the bombing in downtown Nashville and an FBI official on Saturday 26.12.2020 said agents are not looking for another suspect. Three people were killed and three wounded in a shooting on Saturday 26.12.2020 at a bowling alley in Rockford, Illinois, and a suspect is in custody, according to police. Authorities have identified Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, of Antioch, Tennessee, as the Nashville bomber after matching his DNA to remains found at the scene of the explosion. Dear Fellow. As Election Day 2020 approaches, several crises are wreaking havoc across the country USA. The Corona-pandemic that has taken more than a million lives across the globe has triggered an economic crisis that will deepen, not resolve, in the months ahead. The consequences of manmade global warming are manifesting more and more acutely. Political polarization continues to escalate, with protesters who are demanding racial justice facing violence both from police and white supremacists, egged on by Donald Trump. And the blows are falling hardest on Black people, others of color, women, and poor people, as they usually do.
In this election, we as always promote the “lesser evil” argument. The rationale is that Trump is just too dangerous to do anything other than vote for his Democratic Party opponent. The same case was made when the authoritarian Nixon ran, and Reagan, and the Bushes senior and junior. The nationalist-fascist Donald Trump is even more openly and crassly pushing the supremacy of the wealthy white elite than his authoritarian predecessors. It is precisely because the stakes are higher today that workers and poor folks, and the population in general, must support the Democratic Party and its significant, but not perfect, ability to solve 21st-century problems.
Substituting Biden for Trump will probably contribute to a) restore many jobs that have been lost, b) empower communities to hold police accountable, c) wrest stolen wealth out of the hands of the uber-rich, and d) result in the forceful and immediate action needed to check the ravages of manmade global warming. The General Services Administration has informed President-elect Joe Biden that the Trump administration is ready to begin the formal transition process, according to a letter from Administrator Emily Murphy sent Monday afternoon and obtained by CNN. The letter is the first step the administration has taken to acknowledge President Donald Trump's defeat, more than two weeks after Biden was declared the winner in the election.Murphy said she had not been pressured by the White House to delay the formal transition and did not make a decision "out of fear or favoritism.""Please know that I came to my decision independently, based on the law and available facts," Murphy wrote. "I was never directly or indirectly pressured by any Executive Branch official -- including those who work at the White House or GSA -- with regard to the substance or timing of my decision. To be clear, I did not receive any direction to delay my determination." The letter marks Murphy's formal sign off on Biden's victory, a normally perfunctory process known as ascertainment. It's the latest sign that Trump's conspiracy-laden legal bid, led by Rudy Giuliani, to circumvent the outcome of the election is nearing an end. The Trump campaign's lawsuits to delay certification of the election have been dismissed in multiple states, as his legal team has failed to provide any evidence of widespread voter fraud. But until now, Murphy had refused to move forward with the ascertainment process, despite Biden's clear victory. The Biden transition is picking up steam. In short: This thing is all over but the shouting. We simply cannot allow an outgoing president to make things up about the election results without any pushback from those in his party who know he is wrong. A defensive crouch has been the default position of establishment Republicans for the last four years. And we can look around the country and see the damage done -- and the cost in human lives. Now is the time for Republicans to speak out because, if they wait much longer it will be too late. Endangering the pillars of our democracy for purely selfish reasons -- and using the prestige and power of the presidency to do it -- isn't something that can be allowed in a healthy republic. (CNN) President Donald Trump expanded his extraordinary efforts to overturn the election Saturday 05.12.2020, attempting to pressure Georgia's governor to force a special session of the legislature to change the result, while using an evening rally for two GOP Senate candidates to rant about his own grievances and thrash Republican leaders who have not done his bidding. It was more evidence that the President will spend the remaining days of his presidency ignoring the deadly course of the pandemic, spreading falsehoods that amount to an attack on democracy and nursing his own grudges even if that works against the interests of his own party. The purpose of Trump's visit to Valdosta was to support Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in January's Senate runoffs that will determine control of the US Senate. Trump's relentless claims of voter fraud in Georgia have alarmed many GOP leaders who fear they may lead many Republican voters to stay home.
But in his seemingly endless narcissism, Trump found it difficult to keep the focus on Loeffler and Perdue, repeatedly turning back to his own complaints and made only passing references to the alarming rise in Covid-19 cases nationally at a rally where almost no one wore masks and there was no social distancing. He made up fantastical stories about votes in suitcases, re-litigated his election tallies in battleground states and suggested that he will be successful in reversing the November results where President-elect Joe Biden beat him with 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232. "We will still win it," he said, even though there is no means for him to do so. There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud and many states have already certified their results as the vast majority of Trump's baseless legal challenges go down in defeat, meaning that he is merely trying to delay the inevitable as he fights Biden's ascent to the White House. During the Georgia speech, which included a video showcasing his fake claims about election fraud, he alternated between freewheeling lines and his teleprompter script -- doing further harm to his party by inaccurately claiming that Georgia's election system is fraudulent. NB! The voter registration deadline is Monday 07.12.2020 and early voting begins December 14.
"This election was rigged and we can't let it happen to two of the greatest, most respected people in Washington," he said, pointing to Loeffler and Perdue. "We can't let it happen again. Your governor could stop it very easily if he knew what the hell he was doing." The competing messages were on full display when Trump invited Loeffler and Perdue to the stage to make brief remarks. But the crowd seemed much more interested in the President's claims, drowning out the two candidates by chanting "Stop the steal" and "Fight for Trump!" Trump called their Democratic rivals, Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff "extreme," and at one point said he understands the inclination among many of his supporters to sit out the election — "... stay at home," Trump said. There is no evidence of systematic fraud by Democrats, and Biden won Georgia by 12,000 votes. Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican, said Sunday that the falsehoods Trump is spreading are hurting his party's chances in the runoff elections. "I worry that this continuous, you know, fanning of the flames around misinformation puts us in a negative position with regards to the January 5 runoff," Duncan told CNN's Jake Tapper Sunday 06.12.2020 on "State of the Union." "The mountains of misinformation are not helping the process, they're only hurting it. The court's order, issued with no public dissents, to dismiss the challenge is the strongest indication yet that Trump has no chance of overturning election results in court, and that even the justices whom he placed there have no interest in allowing his desperate legal bids to continue. The Electoral College will convene Monday 14.12.2020 to affirm Biden's win. At least four people were stabbed Saturday 12.12.2020 night amid post-election protests in Washington, according to the DC Metropolitan Police Department's public affairs office. DC Fire and EMS transported eight people from the protest area since around 7 p.m.: the four stabbing victims, who were said to be in critical condition, according to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's office; two police officers with non-life-threatening injuries and two people with minor injuries, the public information office said.
At least 23 people have been arrested during the "Stop the Steal" protests, the mayor's office said. Large groups of protesters (and counter-protesters) gathered earlier in the day outside the Supreme Court and at Freedom Plaza to protest the presidential election results. Most individuals were not wearing masks. Six people were arrested for assault on police officers, 10 were arrested for simple assault, four for riotous acts, two for crossing a police line and one for possession of a prohibited weapon -- a Taser, the mayor's office said. (CNN) President-elect Joe Biden declared Monday 14.12.2020, hours after the Electoral College made his victory over President Donald Trump official, that "the rule of law, our Constitution and the will of the people prevailed" over Trump's efforts to undo the results of the election. "The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know nothing, not even a pandemic or an abuse of power, can extinguish that flame," Biden said. In a speech Monday night in Delaware, Biden launched the most direct and detailed defense of his victory yet -- and the harshest condemnation of Trump's failing efforts to change reality. He catalogued the failures of Trump's campaign and his allies in state and federal courts and state legislatures, and recounts that have not substantially changed vote tallies. He called efforts by Trump and his supporters to use the courts to overturn the election result "so extreme we've never seen it before."
"Thankfully, a unanimous Supreme Court immediately and completely rejected this effort," Biden said. Biden's speech came after the Electoral College had cast 306 votes for Biden and 232 for Trump, cementing Biden's win. The Electoral College votes will now be sent to Congress to be counted formally next month. 27.12.2020 (CNN) - Investigators looking into the Christmas morning explosion in Nashville 25.12.2020 now believe the blast was likely the result of a suicide bombing, according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation. Officials have previously said they have recovered human remains at the scene of the bombing in downtown Nashville and an FBI official on Saturday 26.12.2020 said agents are not looking for another suspect. Three people were killed and three wounded in a shooting on Saturday 26.12.2020 at a bowling alley in Rockford, Illinois, and a suspect is in custody, according to police. Authorities have identified Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, of Antioch, Tennessee, as the Nashville bomber after matching his DNA to remains found at the scene of the explosion. There is no indication that anybody else was involved, [but it could be...] said Douglas Korneski, FBI special agent in charge of the Memphis field office, at the news conference. A vehicle ID number from the RV was also a match for Warner.
